How have you planned
for the future with regards
sustainability and
environmental ‘best practices’?
We signed up to the ‘Sustainable
Wine of GB’ scheme which requires
lots of changes. We’re not using
any pesticides or insecticides, our
whole site is near enough self-
sufficient with solar panels, spring
water extraction and rainwater
harvesting for our water supply, we
have an aerobic digester or ‘biobubble’ that treats all waste onsite from toilets, dishwashers and
winery waste and releases it back
into the stream 100% clean at the
exact level we extracted it.
We’ve planted a new organic trial
site where we’re experimenting
with different cover crops and weed
management. Then the HigherLevel Countryside Stewardship
Scheme mentioned earlier requires
10 metres of wildflower meadows
around fields, tree planting and
protection of woodland, among
many other things.
